Introduction to me

 Hi, my name is Tyler Harriott, I was born in Homestead, Florida when I was 8 my family moved to Monroe, North Carolina. When I was about 12 or 13 I started playing basketball for a rec league that was close to my house. In high school I played football and golf, I played football for 4 years and golf my junior year of high school. I was accepted into Florida State in the summer of 23 ad so for being at FSU has been one of the best experiences of my life.

Some experiences I have had using technology in the educational setting has varied through my years being in school. When I was in elementary school, we had a computer lab where we would practice our type skills with little games, and whoever had the highest score would get a reward. Then once I got into middle school, we received our own personal school laptops, at this time homework and assignments started to become more online. Highschool same story except more and more assignments had to be turned in via canvas or blackboard. College, it seems like everything has to be turned in online I have had only one class where I could turn in stuff on paper, but it was mainly for extra credit.

Some of the personal networks that I use to study or just help me figure stuff out would we websites like Quizlet, Kahoot, and even YouTube. I mainly use Quizlet for when I need a quick study for a class or just need a refresher on something that I may have missed for the class. Kahoot, I use because it is fun way of doing knowledge checks, and it helps me focus on the problem better. Since YouTube has pretty much every type of video imaginable, I use YouTube to try and find videos about topics that I get lost at and they sometimes help because the person in the video explains the topic differently than my professor.

 I feel as though if it is for the betterment of the students ten everything should be available to them. I understand that some people want property of what is theirs and what they create should be up to them to decide what they want to do with it. Now I do have question pertaining to why people keep their stuff to themselves? Another concern that I have with copyright and fair use is that people may use that to try and make a profit which I feel is silly if it helps better the world. Decreased productivity- A solution that I would propose is that we create more of learning assignments that seem like games. A good example of what I am referring to is Quizlet, Quizlet simply put is a way to learn that has different ways of doing it. On Quizlet you can study definitions the old fashion way or you can test yourself on it, or you can get the whole class involved and play a game of matching and whoever has the lowest time can get a homework pass. Blog Journal #5

 My early experiences using twitter as a type of personal learning network were very limited. Instagram on the other hand was my main source of information since it was more my speed just a lot of pictures and memes. Now I use more of Twitter for my personal learning network because I have matured a little bit. The way that I will use these platforms to help my future career is to promote myself to future employers, I will provide information and links to my resume amongst other things. The digital divide is becoming more and more prevalent in recent years. I remember when I was in elementary school, we did a majority of our work on paper and pencil not on the laptop. I didn't start using technology for homework until middle school. I feel as though if we start using technology to soon with the new generation, they will rely too much on it for spelling and they could also believe everything they read online. Blog Journal #2

 My experience with Microsoft Word is very slim. I did not really use Microsoft word in high school but rather I took a course on Microsoft tools in community college. Overall, I am not a fan of anything Microsoft mainly because I grew up using Google docs and Google slides. The only time I use Microsoft now is when I submit assignments because I download them from Google docs into whatever Microsoft form, I need. I mainly use Microsoft word if I had to say which one, I use now. The ISTE Standard for Educators that I feel is most meaningful to me is 2.1 learner. The reason why that standard is so meaningful to me is that it talks about learning from others which I find to be very true. We always learn from others and the more. I feel as though this standard is the most important because we also want to maintain the curriculum through online education. I would agree with the label of digital native for today's youth.
